What does God say about putting Love into practice?
“No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.” (1 John 4:12)
This is what God Himself writes about Love and how we have to put Love into practice:
On the characteristics of Love
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[b]6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Cor 13:4-7)
Pray
“Pray for those who persecute you!” (Matthew 5:44)
Do Good
“Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid”. (Luke 6:35)
“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.” (Romans 12:9)
“Love does no wrong to others” (Romans 13:10)
Honor each other
“Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other” (Romans 12:10)
Bear with one another
“Bearing with one another in love” (Ephesians 4:2)
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)
Speak the Truth
“Rather, speaking the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15)
“For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit” (1 Peter 3:10)
Be Humble
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves”. (Phil 2:3)
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who … humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” (Phil. 2:3-6).
Stop sinning
“Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming” (Colossians 3:5-6)
Forgive each other
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive”. (Colossians 3:12-13)
Serve each other
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me” (Mat 25:35)
Finally ….
“Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.” (I Peter 3:8-11)
